Dr. Malcolm Conway, a chiropractor based in Northeastern Pennsylvania, is going to the U.S. Open Tennis Championships this year. Dr. Conway, however, will not be competing in the event. Instead, he’s traveling to Flushing Meadows, NY to make sure that all the athletes have easy access to the care that they need to recover from sports injuries.
This isn’t the first time that Dr. Conway has hit the road to work with professional athletes. He has worked at previous tennis tournaments, including several U.S. Opens, the Fed Cup in Birmingham, AL, Wimbledon, and the Rogers Cup. He has also worked with professional athletes in other sports. He even served the Baltimore Ravens during the 2001 Super Bowl in Tampa.
Dr. Conway remains committed to serving athletes in all types of sports, but his recent interests have led him to figure skating. This competitive sport puts tremendous strain on the body. Repetitive movements, falls, and sore muscles often create problems that stand between figure skaters and their goals. Dr. Conway’s expertise in sports performance and injuries, however, helps them get back on their feet quickly so that they can continue training and competing. Most recently, he has even worked with Felicia Zhang, a junior national skater who has Olympic potential.
Professional athletes, of course, need to take care of their bodies so that they can perform as well as possible. Amateurs, however, could also benefit from certain chiropractic services. Even though amateurs don’t usually spend as much time pushing their bodies to the limits of performance, they can still experience injuries that prevent them from performing. This is especially true of amateurs who don’t have professional trainers. Working out improperly can lead to serious problems that need medical attention. Some one who, for instance, lifts heavy weights to gain muscle mass must maintain proper form to prevent injury. Those who do not will often find that they cause damage to their lower backs, an area that is prone to injury in amateur and professional sports.
Getting treatment from a well trained doctor can help individuals recover from their injuries sooner.
