Chiropractic philosophy focuses on conservatism and homeostatis. Conservatism speaks of the risks of physical intervention in the body. This philosophy understands that using chemicals, artificial substance or surgery to overcome a health problem is never going to provide real benefits. So far, we have ample evidence that medical science, despite helping us overcome our health problems, is not really doing a good job at keeping us healthy.
The philosophy of homeostatis speaks of the inherent ability of the body to heal itself. Our body has the capacity of carrying out internal wear and tear maintenance activities. Take the example of clotting of blood. Once blood is exposed to the air, a series of steps are executed by the nervous system of the body. In all, more than 16 steps take place which result in the clotting of the blood. Had this simple procedure not being in built in our body, we would have bled to death because of the smallest cut.
Many persons scoff at such notions. How can the body repair a blocked heart on its own? It is only when stents are introduced that the blockages are removed. Well, to think of the extreme position as the first example is not a smart move. Take a look at a life where the individual does not focus on health and exercises. He or she is keen on earning money and does not care about anything else. In such a scenario, the seeds of the heart attack are sowed here. If a person takes care of health, there is a possibility that the body may prevent the blockage from occurring in the first place.
